Rerun - ABOP Franken

SOURCE: Previously worn franken I made with Orly colors
COMMENTS: I was in New York City this week and had to pack light as I prefer not checking any luggage in - especially since they charge for it. That meant whatever polish I took had to fit in the one allowed bag of liquids. I took two frankens I like that are in mini bottles, my topcoat, and a Sally Hansen nail art pen in gold. So this mani is without base coat or cleanup.  And, because I already was playing with other colors on my left hand when I returned last night, my right hand will have to do.

Essie - Turqoiuse and Caicos

APPLICATION: Okay
COATS: 2
TOPCOAT?: Only after adding glitter
SOURCE: Rite Aid during their buy one get one 1/2 off sale
COMMENTS: I've loved this shade ever since I first saw it on some of the blogs I follow. It's been out a long time, but I didn't want to pay retail price for it. However, I was never able to find it at the discount nail supply places that carry Essie, so I finally decided to get it. It's gorgeous! I added some of my surprise glitter, but kept it simple because I really want to enjoy the polish more than the bling.

Dollah Dollah Jellies Y'all!

APPLICATION: Lovely, though the orange was a bit too thick. I'll thin it next time I wear it.
COATS: 3 of each
TOPCOAT?: Yes
SOURCE: Nail supply store in Chinatown, downtown LA - I purchased these for $1 each when we went shopping during the LA MakeupAlley Nail Board meetup two weekends ago.
COMMENTS: I have a green and a blue jelly from Color Las Vegas (Mirage Cosmetics) and like them both. I decided to see what other jellies there were in the store where I originally purchased them and found these - From Left to right:
Color Las Vegas -Flamingo
Color Las Vegas -Monte Carlo
Color Las Vegas -M.G.M.
Color Las Vegas - New York
Paris - Acid (also mftd. by Mirage)

I love these! My favorites are the yellow (Acid) on my pinky and the pink (Flamingo) on my thumb. I ended up using Flamingo for my toenails with white polka dots over it.

The fun...

COMMENTS: I've mentioned before how I often like to play with my manis right before removal... Here's the chaos I created before taking off my last one:

Right hand:

And sayy goodbye to the longer nails... See that right index fingernail? It's been through a few corner breaks, so as you can see, it's substantially shorter than the rest. I normally keep my right thumbnail short, but if any other nail breaks I take them all down - which I did right after removing this.

Abop Franken - greyed purple and glitter

APPLICATION: Smooth
COATS: 2
TOPCOAT?: Yes
SOURCE: Franken was made last year and I don't remember what I put in it!
COMMENTS: Jenni commented on my last mani that the glitter accents were not something that could be worn by someone with short nails. That was because I used the glitter on my tips to create a funky french. Sooo, for this manicure I decided to use irridescent glitter in a look that can be adapted by those sporting nails of any length. Did I succeed?

This time I used the clear/white-looking glitter:

Arranged them in a half-moon shape:

Looks pretty tame, doesn't it? Wait for it...

BAM! The tiniest bit of light turns the glitter into a glowy animal!

Outdoors in sunlight:

And in the shade:

The way I like it best - indoors with not much lighting. The glitter just gloooows...

So, can this be worn by someone with short nails?

Golden Rose with Protein - 329 and some bling!

APPLICATION: Smooth
COATS: 2
TOPCOAT?: Yes, after hex glitter added.
SOURCE: www.goldenroseusa.com (wow, they raised their prices since I last ordered!)
COMMENTS: This is definitely one of my favorite manis! The iridescent hex glitter is amazing! It reminds me of pretty tiles in a backsplash, and makes the whole manicure feel marine-like. Definitely check out the video if you can, photos don't do this justice.

And the video (still not as clear as the original, but passable):

Pure Ice - Magic, and some glitter

APPLICATION: Smooth
COATS: 2
TOPCOAT?: Yes
SOURCE: Walmart (Pure Ice) and nail supply in LA (glitter)
COMMENTS: Sorry, no photos of this one on its own. I had planned to wear something else, but decided to "play" after taking off my previous manicure and ended up with this. I like it, but need to streamline the way I apply glitter. This was my mani for the LA (MakeupAlley) Nailboard meetup - which was fun! It was so nice to spend time in the company of people who feel the same way about nail polish!
