COMMENTS: A number of you mentioned that my shorter nails are still rather long. I guess they are - but mostly because I have nail beds that are of a decent length. I just wanted to show you what they look like in all their bare, partially stained glory. The skin underneath my nail grows past my actual fingertip, so it really does hurt to try filing them any shorter.
Your nails are gorgeous long or short . It just kills me to cut my nails down , I don't know how you do it so often .
ReplyDeleteHello, I had always wondered if I was the only one whos skin is growing up my nails. I can't go too short on my nails or if my nail breaks cuz my skin is attached to the nails. Ouch! I understand that sensitivity with going too short. Are you going to grow your nails again??
ReplyDeleteI wish you a happy holiday!!
Nicky
Dang you have beautiful nail beds. a perfect canvas for all of your fabulous nail art. :)
ReplyDeleteYou hit the genetic lotto!!
ReplyDeleteHow do you keep them so unstained?
wow your nail beds are long. Mine are short stubbies if I cut them off to my fingertips.
ReplyDeleteI understand. It hurts to go truly nubbie as I also have long nailbeds.
ReplyDeleteYour nails look fabulous short. So perfectly squared and barley stained. Amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous healthy nails!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments!
ReplyDelete@Nicky: I don't file my nails usually unless I have a break or some unevenness, I just let them grow until the length starts to bother me - like it just did. I'm liking the shorter look for now, but as they start to grow might decide to keep them longer or trim them again, I can't say for sure.
@Paillette: But they ARE stained! Look at the color difference between the tip and the area next to the cuticle. If it ever really starts to bother me I'll switch to using my Sally Hansen hard as nails hard as wraps base coat as that prevents staining for me.
Your nails look beautiful au naturel! And I agree that they still look long because of the larger nailbeds, but that's a good thing right ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou have beautiful nails with or without polish :)
ReplyDeleteI wish I had long nailbeds like you! Your nails looks gorgeous! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for this post! I have the same "problem" with my skin growing out under my nail past the end of the fingertip. I've been told that I should "push it back" like with cuticles, but there's a reason I hate to cut my nails short - it hurt to do so! The short nails look good on you, as does your nail shape...but it really all comes down to what works best for you. :)
ReplyDeleteYou do indeed have nice nails. Short or long they look good.
ReplyDeleteI haven't looked on your blog, but will do after I post this. Do you have a nail routine you follow? How do you keep your cuticles in order?
ReplyDeleteI love how your nail beds are so long *jealous*
ReplyDeleteYep my nails are the same as yours. They look great! :)
ReplyDeleteYour nails look great! I wish mine were like yours! I have almost the opposite problem, my skin is pushed so far back it curves around to about half the length of my nailbed which results in so pretty bad breaks sometimes.
ReplyDeleteHey! how do you grow such long nail beds? I'm dying to know because my nail beds stay basically the same! :(
ReplyDelete@Anonymous: Unfortunately I have no idea how to do that - and have never given the length of my nail beds any thought. Some of the helpful ladies on the Nail Board on MakeupAlley will probably have tips for you though.
