Although I made a fresh version of this franken, I didn't quite get a color match with the original. This one is more like egg yolk while the other looked darker. Either way, I like this one a lot! It also reminds me of lemon poppyseed muffins, yummy!

  2. Lovely, what glitter do you use. Should one look for a particular glitter (one that wont bleed its colour in the polish for instance) I would love to make a clear base with black glitters in it but don't know which glitter to use. Any help?
    Thanks

    1. Well, I wouldn't recommend the glitter I used because it wasn't colorfast, haha!

The only colorfast black glitter I've used that was not already in nail polish was from TKB trading. However theirs is microglitter, so not as obvious on the nail. I've heard YouMix cosmetics has a black glitter that is colorfast, but I'm not sure about the exact size.

I'll let you know (will post a successful franken) if I find one that is similar. For now though, in spite of the obvious downside, I will just make do with my ever-darkening frankens.

    1. You can mix a similar color yourself - don't limit yourself to just what you can buy! Take a yellow you like, and on a piece of foil, or glass or other non-porous surface, place a few drops of the yellow. Then add a drop of brown, or black nail polish to it and mix. Play with the proportions until you've mixed a color you like. Then use an empty bottle and make a mixture using the same ratios. Let me know if you have any questions!

    2. Do you use same brands for the frankens?I was wondering if the different brands are inconsistent with each other? Thanks for the advices-you're great!

    3. I do try to stay within a brand as much as possible, but in this case I didn't as I was trying to get rid of polish I would otherwise not use. I also definitely try not to mix polishes that have toluene, dbp or formaldehyde with ones that are free of them (B3Free).

  6. Love this colour on you, perfect! I tried putting some glitter in a topcoat the other day & it ruined it as the colour bled, now have a neon pink topcoat to work with! :-)
