Golden Rose Swatches

COMMENTS: A few of you mentioned planning to purchase some of the polishes from this brand. There aren't a lot of swatches out yet, so I figured I'd do my bit of community service and swatch most of my collection. I swatched everything  but the smaller holos (sorry Enamel Girl, I did include photos though!)

Although disappointed that I ended up with so many frosty finish polishes, I can see how these could be stunning - when applied carefully they look like pearls!

All swatches are two coats without topcoat unless stated otherwise.

Golden Rose Paris:
Holographic - No. 113 worn in this post
No. 88 worn in this post

Golden Rose Paris No. 51:

Golden Rose Paris No. 37 (two coats on index and ring, three coats on middle and pinky):

Golden Rose With Protein:
No. 326 worn in this post

Golden Rose with Protein No. 213 (two coats on index and ring, three coats on middle and pinky) I like!:

Golden Rose with Protein No. 214 (two coats on index and ring, three coats on middle and pinky, not much difference) - I like this one too!:

Golden Rose with Protein No. 215:

Golden Rose with Protein No.  279
One coat at first - this would be a great sheer for a quick mani. It's gold-ish shimmer with specks of gold.

And 279 with two coats.

Golden Rose with Protein No.  309 - another one I liked, though it's certainly  not unique:

Golden Rose with Protein No. 325 (Compared to two coats of Paris - 88 on index, I like 325 more - one less coat but almost the same great jelly color, for less money!):

Golden Rose with Protein No. 327 (Compared to two coats of Fashion color - 52 on index. These are very similar, but you get much more for the same price from 327):

Golden Rose Fashion Color (minis)

Golden Rose Fashion Color No. 52 (used in previous comparison):

Golden Rose Holographic (minis)

The grey-ish ones are somewhat similar, so I used No. 108 to make frankens last year.

Golden Rose Holographic No. 102, 103, 107:

Golden Rose Holographic No. 119, 115, 114, 111:

Finally done swatching - some fun with the holos (119 and 115):

I may go back and swatch the holos, but I'm not making any promises!

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails - Plum

*Oops! Edited to fix my typos.
APPLICATION: A little messier than usual due to the polish being thinner than I'm used to. Otherwise smooth.
COATS: 2
TOPCOAT?: See photos
SOURCE: Local drugstore
COMMENTS: Someone on the MakeUpAlley nail board posted some bottles from this line in her recent purchase, and it reminded me of the many I have. I decided to pull one out and use it as a result. For the dots I used the colors Truffle and Terracotta from the same line.

With topcoat:

Without topcoat

With topcoat:

I tend to match my clothes to my mani, and the next morning, pulled this blouse out to wear.

UP NEXT: Some Golden Rose SWATCHES. Yes I actually swatched polishes, a rarity for me.

Golden Rose with Protein - No. 326

APPLICATION: Smooth,  like the previous one this had a gel-like consistency which I love because there's minimal cleanup required.
COATS: 2
TOPCOAT?: Only after adding nail art.
SOURCE: www.goldenroseusa.com
COMMENTS: Another pretty one from Golden Rose, though from a different line in the brand than the one used on my previous mani. I added tattoos from the 99c store, but they weren't too visible. I later tried out another tattoo before taking off the mani.

These are pretty big, so I'll have to find creative ways to use them.

Not as opaque as I'd like. I will have to use a lighter background for these next time.

Playing with more Dollar Tree tattoos.

Golden Rose Paris - No. 88 - with flowers!

COMMENTS: Of course the base for this was the beautiful Golden Rose Paris - No. 88. I decided the next day to add some temporary tattoos I had found at Dollar Tree recently. Then hours later I added some glass microbeads.

I started with these and used the smaller flowers hiding at the bottom right corner of this photo:

They're actually a continuous strip, so I counted out 10 and cut the section out:

Look - they printed the image on the back to help you with placement! Awesome!

Separated them with small scissors - 10 pieces.

And I have my brush and water ready:

Remove the protective layer from the front, turn upside down and stick to nail (yes, it has adhesive, this is why it would not work to apply it like a water decal)

I then use the brush to wet the backing so I can shape the tattoo backing to my nail - sticking the tattoo to my nail in the process.

After a little while (less than 30 seconds), the wet backing releases and slides off, leaving the tattoo on your nail:

Here all the nails are done. Let them dry completely.

Then add a nice thick layer of topcoat to seal them in:

I later added some microbeads:

Before topcoat:

After a final coat of topcoat to seal the beads:

I absolutely love this mani! I just took it off too, but it was still intact. Gorgeous payoff for a few simple steps! I'm so glad I can use these and rub-ons as alternatives to konad/fauxnad stamping!

UP NEXT: Another Golden Rose polish

Golden Rose Paris - No. 88

APPLICATION: Smooth
COATS: 3 - one more than my usual, but so worth it!
TOPCOAT?: See photos
SOURCE: www.goldenroseusa.com - definitely google swatches before ordering as theirs are way off! (I have a bunch of frosties as a result of assuming their tiny color boxes were mostly cremes :( )
COMMENTS: I don't know if I saw this beauty here or here first, I just knew I had to have it! It didn't disappoint! I've worn one of the holographic polishes from this line, but pulling this one out reminded me of how much I like their "vintage-esque" bottle shape.

Before topcoat - artificial light:

With topcoat the next morning - indoors, natural light:

So pretty. Reminds me of water. In a nice clean pool. On a beautiful day. With an occasional light breeze...

UP NEXT: This same mani, but made even prettier with temporary tattoos from the dollar store!
