This Maybelline polish  is a really old one from my collection, and I wanted to wear it alone. However, it is too sheer, so after two coats I applied Mia Secret Tint - Ocean with a sponge. I then applied another two coats of Emerald Water and finished it off with a subtle holographic topcoat.

  1. I thought I was the only person who still had this polish! I couldn't believe the post title! Super sheer stuff. I have no idea how anyone uses it. Thanks for sharing!

    1. I think many of us still have these, lol! I know a number of these older polishes have also shown up at Dollar Tree and Big Lots in the past 2 years or so as well.

  2. I always wanted to buy one of these Maybelline "waters", despite their sheerness... Lovely result, but those Tints are super awesome!

    1. I don't know if they're really worth it - still trying to figure out if it's useful on it's own.

  3. Sent here by Smaltoitaliano :) with whom I was having a chat not long about these polishes...
I used to have the blue one and threw it away in a fit of insanity some years ago.
As for dating this polish I know for sure that mine was either bought in 1997 or 1998.

    1. Hello! Welcome :) Yup, I'm still thinking of throwing mine out, though I guess I could just mix in some of the tint to make it a bit less sheer. Mine was definitely bought in the late 90's.

  4. I used to love these!
Mind you, I never managed to achieve such a gorgeous mani as you have. Outstanding.

    1. The mani would have been really sad if not for the tint, lol!

  5. JUst yesterday I saw this at Dollar Tree-- blue water & emerald water. I figured they'd be super sheer. Now I want to go back & get them both!

    1. They ARE super sheer! Just think, the color closest so my cuticle is four coats! The darker hues towards the tip were only made possible by the addition of the mia secret tint.

  11. I am KICKING my self. I passed this one over just a few months ago and now I sit and drool at your posts. You know I love these, I think I have whined about not being able to get the others before. *giggle* Feeling silly now.

  12. I see no one's actually hearing what you're saying, LOL. You: "Hey, guys, this polish is impossibly sheer, and the nearly-clear area by my cuticle is how it looks at 4 coats. The mani you see was made possible mostly by some other polish." Them: "OMG, that entire mani was made possible by this Maybelline Waters stuff! I have found my holy grail! Thank you so much, blogger whose actual words I completely ignored!"

    1. Lol! Yup. Some people got it though. My post title indicates it's more than 1 polish too.
