Zoya: Gift from Jossie ** Un regalo de Jossie

COMMENTS | COMENTARIOS:
The NYC polish took 3 coats to become opaque, but will be useful with glitter.  I sponged Zoya Envy and Dree over it, but didn't like the way it looked (I overdid the sponging), so covered it all with a coat of the gold glitter.  I like it, but wish I had a bit more green close to my cuticles.

I received a surprise package from Jossie in the mail last week. In it were three Zoyas in green - one of my favorite colors! Zoya Edyta is a polish that I admired often but never actually purchased. Well, thanks to Jossie, here it is! It has a lot of beautiful gold shimmer in it, but I wanted even more, so I put a layer of NDB - Golden Bikini over it.

China Glaze - Emerald Sparkle... aka Mani Fail!

APPLICATION: Smooth
COATS: 2 of Emerald Sparkle, 1 of Nyx - Peach Ave, 1 of NDB - Tree Foil
TOPCOAT?: Yes
SOURCE: Sally Beauty Supply and downtown LA nail supply stores
COMMENTS: I had another green mani planned but not enough time, so I settled for this polish but found it unnatractive (too dark and not sparkly enough) when I had it on. So what do I do? Try to salvage it with some layering and ended up with this hot mess. This might look good on someone else, but I took the photos and removed it immediately (so much for saving time, eh?) Sigh...

Zoya - Crystal

*Thanks for the comments on my last post!

APPLICATION: Smooth
COATS: 2
TOPCOAT?: Not in photos. Later put on one coat of Quick Slicker and it took about 10 mins longer than usual to fully dry.
SOURCE: Zoya website (www.zoya.com)
COMMENTS: I took advantage of a recent sale to order more Zoya polishes (though I of course haven't worn most of the ones I already have!). Crystal is one I've had my eye on since it came out, and I love it! The gold foil with the blue is a fabulous combo, and I highlighted the gold by putting a thin coat of NDB - Golden Bikini on the tips. Though not pictured below, this is really stunning with topcoat.

Nabi - Natural and NDB - Golden Bikini

APPLICATION: Smooth
COATS: 2 of Nabi - Natural, 1 of ND - Golden Bikini as accent.
TOPCOAT?: Yes
SOURCE: Two separate beauty supply stores in downtown Los Angeles.
COMMENTS: After a tough time deciding what color to wear, I settled on this recent addition to my stash. It needs another coat for full opacity, but I didn't feel like doing a third coat. I accented it with a dense gold glitter that from afar looks like bits of gold foil on the nail - me likey!

Mo' polished blues...

Rimmel - Marine Blue (index and ring fingers)
NDB - Tahitian Pearl (middle and pinky)
Maybelline - Jaded Blues (accent)
Application: Both the NDB and Rimmel went on nicely. However, the Rimmel was a tad difficult because of the flat wide brush. I used a separate brush to apply the Maybelline stripe.
Coats: 2 of each.
Source: NDB from Skyline Beauty, Rimmel from one of the drugstores (CVS, Rite Aid or Walgreens), and Maybelline from Dollar Tree
Comments: I realized I hadn't worn any of my NDB colors as a full mani, so pulled out Tahitian Pearl. Then, I shopped my swatches for a color that was close to it and found the Rimmel. These are quite close, but the NDB Tahitian Pearl has more green shimmer in it. I couldn't get my camera to capture that accurately (grrr!). In the bottle, the Maybelline also looked similar to the NDB, but with much more green shimmer, so I used that as an accent instead.

Color Club Pucci-licious and NDB Forbidden Fruit

Application: Color Club was smooth as usual, NDB was chunky - as expected for glitter
Coats: 2 of each
Source: CC came from Ross, NDB from Skyline Beauty Supply
Comments: First I need to apologize. My camera shows Pucci-licious as blue, it is not. It's a neon-ish purple. It dries to a matte/satin finish, so definitely needed topcoat for me. I liked having the blingy accent nail. The glitter in Forbidden Fruit is purple and builds up quickly. Would be great for a night out.

I need to stop!

Haulin' that is. A co-worker told me about a beauty supply spot downtown (Skyline Beauty Supply) and I went there yesterday hoping to score some dollar polish. How nice was it to see these - from the Orly Sweet collection - which I've wanted for a while... $3.50 a piece! That's 35 cents more than I pay for them from Victoria Nail Supply, but I'm not paying for shipping, so WIN!
Green Apple (not from Sweet Collection), Gumdrop, Snowcone, Lemonade, Lollipop

I also have wanted a set of dotting tools for a while and found these there. I'm going to be dotting like crazy soon (more likely making a hot dotted mess on my nails, but oh well)!

Then of course came the dollar polishes. I've never seen this brand (NDB) before, so I'll definitely have to wear some of these soon.
Diamond Head, Forbidden Fruit, Cosmic Swirl, Kilowala Lava, Corianne, Golden Bikini, Lemon Blossoms

Tahitian Pearl, Under the Sea, Midnight Swim, Black Sand Beach, Dream Forest, Tree Foil, Fuji Green

From there I proceeded to do some more haulin' at the drugstore and at Ross. More about those later. I seriously do not need to buy any more polish for years. Seriously.
