Comments: First I need to apologize. My camera shows Pucci-licious as blue, it is not. It's a neon-ish purple. It dries to a matte/satin finish, so definitely needed topcoat for me. I liked having the blingy accent nail. The glitter in Forbidden Fruit is purple and builds up quickly. Would be great for a night out.

Extending the mani

I didn't have a chance to redo my mani from earlier before Easter, and I had some tip wear. Quick and easy solution - redo the tips like I did below.
I simply alternated colors for some more visual interest, and then added a line between the two using my Art Club white striper. I did this hastily though, so it certainly isn't the tidiest.

Me likey.

Cataloging my stash

I'm in the process of cataloging my huge stash of nail polish, and so sometimes have to do marathon sessions of swatching. Not using my fingernails, of course, but some "kiss" brand tips.
I purchased 4 boxes of 100 each and am already on the last box. Either way, here is what my setup looks like. I have to sit next to the open patio door, especially since most of these are old formula polishes.
Funny thing - I was doing this yesterday afternoon when I felt a bit of vertigo. My first thought was "oh no, these fumes are getting to me!". Alas, it wasn't me, it really was the earth moving - an earthquake. Fortunately we felt it just as a rolling motion in our area.


Pretties! Once they're completely dry, I number them and put the number and corresponding polish brand and name in a spreadsheet.
I'm finding that I have a lot of dupes for colors that are currently popular. So now I'll have to check my stash before I'm tempted to make a purchase.
I still have to do this (swatch) for my more recent purchases.

Sally Hansen Mosaic Creme and Marble Creme

Application: Streaky and watery on first coat, but smooth on second
Coats: 2. I think 3 would be ideal, but I have no patience for that :)

Comments: Love, love, love these colors! Sally Hansen was really rocking some fabulous colors long before some of the others got into the game. I know these are pretty old because I have some of this family of polishes in my stash from about 2001 maybe? They come with a great shine built in, but unfortunately they don't dry very quickly, so I had to put a quick dry topcoat on before I messed it up.
I picked up on the idea of a modified "skittle" mani from jaljen. Her comment got me thinking about wearing manis with colors that were similar enough that they wouldn't throw your eyes off. I love this because I can try out two colors simultaneously, so you'll be seeing more polish-duo looks in the future.

Mosaic Creme = more blue-toned color
Marble Creme = more green-toned color

Orly Green Apple

Application: Thick, streaky. Will need to use thinner next time.

Comments: This is one of the polishes I purchased recently along with a lot of others I showed in this post. It's a beautiful color, but reminded me somewhat of Sinful Colors Innocent, which I also have a post on here. As such, I added a few comparison pictures. They are similar, but Innocent has more yellow in it than Green Apple does.

Comments: This was one of the first creme -like polishes I ever tried. It does have a bit of shimmer. Accented my ring finger with Sally Hansen Planetary

Wet N Wild Rustic and Wet N Wild Shield

Application: Smooth, but the short, fat bottle cap makes holding brush a little awkward.
Coats: 1 - which is nice!

Comments: Rustic is the base color with Shield on the tips. Pretty colors, but just 'meh' for me. Maybe I'll try Shield on its own sometime.

Nail Art Diva Nail Kit

The last thing I picked up at Ross was this:
Great concept, but it doesn't work. It comes with 6 little bottles of polish and 5 image plates. Here is the best I was able to get after several attempts to use the machine:
Yah, no good. However, I tried just using my Konad stamper (still with the polish that came with the kit), and this is what I was able to acheive:

More promising. I haven't been able to duplicate those results yet, but I'm hoping I can at least salvage the plates and the polish to make this purchase worthwhile. I actually bought an extra one for a co-worker's daughters, but since it doesn't work, I'll have to see if I can find that receipt and return it.

Sally Hansen Denim Frost

Application: Smooth
Coats: This could easily be a one-coater, but I put a 2nd on

Comments: I put this on and immediately said "ooooooooh" out loud. It's so rich and blue and smooth and rich and blue and ... wait, I'm repeating myself. The color is closest to the first picture below. The fact that it was opaque in one coat also makes it a great choice for a quick mani. I wore this for three days. Not sure why it's called denim frost. There's no frost here, just smooth creme, baby.

Comments: I guess this is my "mannequin hand" color. It really does look like you're seeing my nail beds instead of my nails. Speaking of nails - had to chop them a few tips were peeling and I have a split in the middle of my right thumbnail. Yuck. Doesn't stop me from enjoying my polish though! I may have to get a backup of this color...



In this last pic I'm comparing the color on my nail to Color Club Best Dressed List. They look pretty similar. Will have to wear it to really find out though.
