Oh my goodness, I didn't realize how many bottles of orange nail polish I have until now! And this is just this particular shade of the color, I still have many more! I have to move at least half of these out of my collection... The stamped design is from Magnonails XL plate D.

American Apparel - Hassid and ABOP Flaky Franken
APPLICATION: Smooth
COATS: 1 of each
SOURCE: American Apparel Store, Flaky topcoat made from Covergirl Boundless Color - Pink Twinkle and multiple Golden Rose Scale Effect polishes.
COMMENTS: I'm not big on putting flaky polishes over black, but to show all the colors in my flaky franken I had no choice but to use black as the base. Hassid is a great one-coat black so served this purpose well. Don't sleep on Covergirl Pink Twinkle people, it constitutes1/2 of the franken! The other half is bits of at least 5 different Golden Rose Scale effects - and I don't remember which ones or proportions, sorry.
The franken is half of this (no topcoat here):
and bits of some of these:
Here's the franken (no topcoat here):
After topcoat:
Up close - the smaller gold-ish flakes are Pink Twinkle:

Extending the Mani - Pink Twinkle and Hidden Treasure
I wanted to try extending my manicure with a different flaky topcoat this time - Cover Girl - Pink Twinkle. I also thought it would be useful to see how different it is from Sally Hansen - Hidden Treasure.
Pink Twinkle has smaller monochromatic flakies that look pink in the bottle but flash gold-ish on my base color. Not as dramatic as Hidden Treasure, but definitely still adds visual interest. I'm sure you can figure out which is which in the photos.
Has anyone else tried this topcoat from Cover Girl? It's still available in Target Stores as far as I know...

Pink Twinkle is on my middle and pinky fingers. |

Stretching the Misa Mani
I was busy with family recently, and so could not change my polish during the week. I ended up putting another coat of Cover Girl - City Lights followed by Sally Hansen - Hidden Treasure on all my fingers. It lasted for a while and my brother actually complimented me on them while I was driving him back from the airport. Yaay!

Cover Girl NailSlicks - Espresso

Application: Smooth
Coats: 2
Source: Old stash. Another oldie but goody. Whenever I use the term "old stash", it means I've probably had this for over 5 years, so I have no clue where I bought it - probably a drugstore.
Comments: For something so old, this went on really smoothly. I really like the shimmer in the color. It's a great work-appropriate shade.

Covergirl and Sally Hansen - marbling (pic heavy)
Colors used: CoverGirl - Fuschia Fatale and Plum Pudding, Sally Hansen - White Tip
Application: Smooth on the base coat of Fuschia Fatale - almost a one-coater.
Coats: 2 of Fuschia Fatale, One partial each of the other two
Source: Drugstore clearance (Walgreens, Rite Aid) and Dollar Tree
Comments: I mentioned in my last post that I was bored and messed around with creating marble-like manis without using water. I decided to try this out as an actual mani. I like the results - though it takes getting used to. I find it kind of ugly, but I'm smitten when I look at my nails close up. This is a fun technique that can be used in so many different ways.
I switched it up on my right hand (last two pics below) and started with blobs rather than lines. I think I prefer that look. A quick play by play will be in my next post.

Cover Girl, Orly, and Finger Paints - Orange three ways
Application: Streaky on the Covergirl and Orly, although the Orly was a bit better. Smooth on the Finger Paints, though this was just tips, so not accurate.
Coats: 3 each of the two base colors. One of the tips.
Source: Cover Girl was from a drugstore, Orly from Victoria Nail Supply, Finger Paints from Sally Beauty Supply
Comments: I couldn't decide what to wear next, so I told myself I would wear bottle number 77 from my spreadsheet. That turned out to be Cover Girl - Candy Corn. I then decided to alternate it with something similar and found the other two colors in my swatched tips.
From Left to right:
Orly - Sol Cabana, Cover Girl - Candy Corn, Orly - Sol Cabana, Cover Girl - Candy Corn
Tips on all: Finger Paints - Tangerine Tint

The two base colors, Orly - Sol Cabana and Cover Girl - Candy Corn are very similar. Finger Paints - Tangerine Tint is darker. It's a bright mani that could have gone wrong. I'm glad I added the white, though now it really makes me want to eat candy corns!
