Shopping for nail decals

You've probably noticed that I sometimes use items on my nails that are not specifically designed for nail art - especially decals/transfers. Here's a quick look at some of what I've found.

I've been wanting more nail art pens, but because they are so expensive, had to think of other options. These pens have no smell, dry quickly, and this particular line (metallic)  is opaque and says on the back of the package that it can be used on smooth surfaces. Perfect! Just like nail art pens, these can be wiped off, but once dry, can still be easily coated with topcoat without smearing.

**  He estado queriendo plumas de arte más las uñas, pero porque son tan caros, tenía que pensar en otras opciones. Estas plumas no huelen, se secan rápidamente, y esta línea en particular (metálico) es opaco y ha dicho en el reverso del paquete que se puede utilizar en superficies lisas. Perfecto! Al igual que las plumas de arte de uñas, éstas se pueden limpiar, pero una vez seca, todavía ser fácilmente cubierto con capa final sin producir manchas.

I found this kit for body art and temporary tattoos at the craft store (Michaels).

The body art items don't really interest me... ** Los elementos de arte corporal en realidad no me interesa ...

But the temporary tattoos do! There are three sheets of them.

A lot of them are too large to be used as one pattern, but they can be cut apart and the pieces used separately. For example, the sets of dots in the first pattern on the left, or parts of the owl on the right... I chose the little flower to play with.

Took off the protective layer and placed it on my nail.

Wet the backing with a large wet brush and then pressed it to the curve of my nail until it released from the backing paper.

Unfortunately it didn't transfer perfectly because I was taking photos and it moved in between photos.

Let it dry,  add a coat of topcoat, and it's all done!

I've been duped by Beauty Secrets!

COMMENTS: I usually buy the large 2.5oz bottles of Beauty Secrets fast finish topcoat and use them to refill my smaller bottle. However, the last time I went to Sally Beauty Supply, I saw this bottle that was a bit larger than the small .5oz bottle for the same price, and greedy little me, I snatched it up. Well, it came back to bite me when I finished my last manicure. My nails are usually dry by the time I go pick up the camera and return for photos. This time they were still very tacky. I first thought it was the polish (the new brand from Walmart), but then I checked my toes, which had been done with a different brand 20 minutes before, and they were still tacky too! Ugh! Needless to say, I had to dig out my original quick dry topcoat and add a layer to both tips and toes.

Now I understand why some people say the "blue" Beauty Secrets topcoat from Sally Beauty Supply never dries - they made the same mistake I did and picked up the wrong one!

So be warned - Make sure the bottle you pick up (in either size) says "FAST FINISH POLISH DRYER". If it doesn't, put it down and walk away!
